A heartbreaking historical tragedy of the damages of war and nationalism
Mostly set in 1930s Berlin, Dum Dum adresses the issue of the repercussions of World War I in Central Europe, a region where national borders have been continously redrawn and where people have been torn between several countries.
Stan, a veteran of the Great War, born in rural Poland and haunted by inner demons, is confronted with the technological and urban frenzy of a city where the first hints of the nazi horror to come are already stirring the citizens.
Inspired by the life of the author’s great-grandfather, this historical graphic novel questions the notions of scientific progress and forced modernization in the context of lives devastated by war... A story told with the author’s unique style, using the architects’ software AutoCAD to draw machines, buildings and urban landscapes.
